While George R.R. Martin fans eagerly await HBO’s latest Westeros adventure, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms—coming later in 2025!—and the eventual return of pirate favorite House of the Dragon, another Martin project has suddenly entered the chat. And no, it’s not The Winds of Winter. It’s In the Lost Lands, an action fantasy film from Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil) starring Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) and Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Dune).

It looks like it could be ripped right out of video game, but it’s indeed adapted from “In the Lost Lands,” a short story by the Game of Thrones creator that appeared in the 1982 fantasy anthology Amazons II, edited by Jessica Amanda Salmonson.
Here’s the official logline for the movie: “Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and based on George R.R. Martin’s short story, a queen sends the powerful and feared sorceress Gray Alys (Milla Jovovich) to the ghostly wilderness of the Lost Lands in search of a magical power, where the sorceress and her guide, the drifter Boyce (Dave Bautista), must outwit and outfight man and demon.”
Martin, who sometimes uses his personal blog as a place to air opinions about adaptations of his work, had no commentary to share today other than some thumbs-up clip art accompanying the poster and trailer, and a brief encouragement (“Seek the power. Free the people”) to go see the film when it opens March 7.
