In 2022, the first season of The Legend of Vox Machina was launched on Prime Video, resulting in enormous success.
Critical Role, the web series created by friends and voice actors, had a dedicated fan base. However, the Amazon series needed to break through to a broader audience. And it did – the crazy animated show about a group of Dungeons & Dragons characters has got quite a buzz.
Two seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina have brought sorcerers, elves, gnomes, vampires, sphinxes, and dragons, as well as raunchy dialogues, dirty humour and some astounding songs.

The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 plot
In season 2 the continent of Tal’Dorei is attacked by a group of dragons called the Chroma Conclave. Thordak, Raishan, Umbrasyl, and Vorugal destroy Emon and other cities and hunt Vox Machina, perceiving them as a threat to their conquest.
The team is desperately seeking a way to defeat their fire-breathing enemies. After a long struggle and many sacrifices, they finally kill one dragon, the green poison Umbrasyl. At the end of season 3, Vox Machina gets an unexpected ally. As it comes out, the Keeper Yennen, the head priest of the Lawbearer in Whitestone, is a shape-shifting dragoness Raishan. She reveals herself and offers her help in defeating Thordak.
In season 3, Vox Machina will continue their fight with the Chroma Conclave. However, they will also meet new, wicked foes.
In the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sam Riegel, who voices Scanlan Shorthalt, teases:
You feel like there are three dragons and those are the bad guys, but that is definitely not the case. Yes, there are three dragons and, yes, they are bad guys, but they are not the only ones. There are villains, both familiar and brand new, that will rear their heads and continue to menace our characters through the whole season — and possibly beyond.

As Travis Willingham, who voices Grog, revealed:
Season 3 is going to leave a mark. It is going to test individual characters; it’s going to test relationships, both familial and of a romantic variety; but it’s also going to start to show the lines of division in this tight-knit family that is really starting to feel the pressure of the world and things even beyond the realm of Exandria. This is the first season where not everything is going to be the same at the end in the way that it started.
Thanks to the first trailer of the new season, we know that this time Vox Machina will be forced to descend into Hell, where, obviously, they will get into serious troubles involving horrendous monsters and demons.
Of course, season 3 will consist of more than chases, fights and escapes. We’ll see how Keyleth’s Aramenté journey will turn out. We can also count on continuing the relationships between Keyleth and Vax, Percy and Vex, and Scanlan and Pike.

Will there be The Legend of Vox Machina season 4?
So far, Amazon hasn’t revealed whether the mercenary group will return for season 4. For information on this subject we have to wait at least until the premiere of the first episodes of season 3 – their viewership will determine the further fate of the series.
However, fans shouldn’t worry – all indications are that you won’t have to leave Exandria too soon. Another animated series based on Critical Role campaigns is currently in the works on Amazon. The Mighty Nein will tell the story of a group of criminals – the human wizard Caleb Widogast, goblin rogue Nott the Brave, human monk Beau Lionett, tiefling cleric Jester Lavorre, tiefling blood Molly Tealeaf, and barbarian Yasha Nydoorin and half-orc warlock Fjord.
According to the creators, The Mighty Nein will be a completely different story from The Legend of Vox Machina and will come as a real surprise to fans.
