This year’s CES show doesn’t really open its doors until tomorrow, but South Korean tech giant Samsung has taken the opportunity to show off The Frame Pro, a new version of the company’s popular TV.
The Verge writes that Samsung seems to be happy with The Frame as a digital artwork display and home decor item, The Frame Pro is now the company’s effort to develop a TV that also wows when it comes to regular film and TV viewing.
The screen in The Frame Pro is equipped with a Mini-LED technology rather than QLED. Samsung says it will give the TV Neo QLED picture quality, with brighter colours, sharper contrasts and local dimming – though the Mini-LEDs are at the bottom rather than behind it.
The refresh rate has also been increased, with The Frame Pro boasting a full 144Hz. However, there’s still no Dolby Vision support.
The other big news with The Frame Pro now is a little more wireless. Samsung has removed the cable between The Frame Pro and the OneConnect box, the TV’s brain where the HDMI ports are located. It should be possible to connect the new wireless OneConnect box and The Frame Pro at distances of up to 10 metres, and the box also supports Wi-Fi 7.
The Frame Pro will be launched in the spring, but Samsung has not yet revealed what the price tag will be.
