The live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece wasn’t just good, it was good in a way that took everyone by surprise. With the numbers to show for it, it’s no wonder Netflix gave it a second season, which is dropping next year.

After a wave of casting announcements, Netflix finally pulled back the curtain on the upcoming season during Tokyo’s One Piece Day celebration. All the Straw Hats—Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji, all new threads from the manga—are present and accounted for, but the big selling point of the trailer is the fresh faces they’ll meet, like bounty hunter Smoker (Callum Kerr) and Baroque Works agents Mss. Wednesday (Charithra Chandran) and All Sunday (Lera Abova). Like last time, this season will adapt several manga arcs, including “Loguetown” and “Drum Island,” which introduce future allies, enemies, and crew members, including doctor Tony Tony Chopper (Mikaela Hoover).

During the presentation, Netflix also revealed One Piece is getting a third season, with production starting in Cape Town later in 2025. The show also has a new co-showrunner for the future season in Ian Stokes, taking over for Matt Owens after his exit from the series earlier this year. Hopefully it won’t be too long a wait after season two, which hits Netflix sometime in 2026.
