The eighth and possibly final Mission: Impossible film, The Final Reckoning, is now available on digital download. It comes with tons of special features and can be yours wherever you legally download movies for just $20. But, if you don’t want to pay $20, it’s also on YouTube for free. In a way.
In what appears to be a fun, original way to promote the film’s digital release, Paramount has uploaded the entire film to YouTube… in Morse code. It’s right now, at the time of publication, Wednesday afternoon, August 20, 2025, still live-broadcasting the film. And considering it’s a nearly three-hour movie and the entire thing is being put out there letter by letter, this is probably going to make the Avengers: Doomsday casting livestream seem like a movie trailer by the end.
Here it is, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, in full, on YouTube, for free. In Morse code.
io9 has reached out to Paramount for potential comment or clarification of the video and will update this post if or when we hear back.
Our only real clue as to how or why this is happening, officially, is in the YouTube description. “A secure livestream of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning full movie is running now. But the Entity has infiltrated every major streaming platform, so this livestream was compromised. The full script had to be transmitted in Morse Code to avoid detection. We need your help decoding it. Your mission begins now.”
Does that mean there’s more to this? Some kind of fun game? It seems possible, but we don’t know enough about Morse code to figure it out. The image chosen with the Morse code, though, does include a few Mission: Impossible Easter eggs. There’s William Donloe’s knife from the first movie, which returned in this film, as well as a rabbit’s foot, the nickname given to a device in the third film that was revealed in this film to be connected to the Entity.
So yeah, there’s something else going on here. But, ultimately, the aim is to let people know they can get Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning at home right now. Mission accomplished.
