The Brutalist, a tale about the pursuit of the American Dream, was one of the most acclaimed films of 2024. The movie, directed by Brady Corbet, won three Golden Globes and five awards at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, including the Silver Lion. It ended the award season with three Oscars, including Best Actor, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography.
The film tells the story of a Hungarian-Jewish architect László Tóth (Adrien Brody), who, after surviving the Holocaust, immigrates to the United States. Thanks to the affluent industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (Guy Pearce), László starts working on a monumental building that can secure the future for him and his wife, Erzsébet (Felicity Jones).
