‘Star Wars’ and Deadpool Bring Festive Themed Treats to Disneyland

Celebrate your fandom during the holidays at the Disneyland Resort by trying out the festive foodie finds inspired by Deadpool and Star Wars.

io9 recently visited Disneyland to taste this year’s nerdy offerings. (The writer’s own Magic Key pass paid for admission; food vouchers were provided by Disney Experiences for this review.) The Disney Parks tend to focus more on traditional winter treats, such as the Festival of the Holidays at Disney California Adventure and the great hunt for that Mickey Mouse Gingerbread Man (it’s worth it), so sometimes pop culture geeks can feel a bit left out.

The most immersive of this year’s experiences, for example, is a character dinner at the resort’s Grand Californian Hotel themed to Mickey’s Christmas Carol, where you can meet the iconic animated adaptation’s versions of the characters, including a very grim Goofy as Marley, while you feast. Reservations for that unique Disney offering are pretty much sold out for the season, but you can try your luck on the park app, where sometimes you can nab spots from last-minute cancellations.

Thankfully, though, this year there’s a Life Day miracle at Galaxy’s Edge and a merry multiversal menu at Avengers Campus to satisfy those seeking out cool pop culture snackage.

In addition to hosting his own live holiday special at Avengers Campus, which we have yet to catch since showtimes are super limited, Deadpool has also taken over the menu at Avengers Campus’ main restaurant, Pym’s Test Kitchen, for the season. Naturally, fans will be excited to get to try the Merc with the Mouth’s favorite quintessential comic-book-accurate meal: chimichangas.

These are not for the faint of heart (burn), but very much worth it. The cross-section shows that the massive chimichanga is packed with cheesy and spicy ground beef, charred poblano for that kick, beans to balance it out, and Guajillo sauce. The tortillas that blanket the sharable feast look like they represent an embrace between Wolverine and Deadpool, with a delicate claw mark to show that this comes from DP’s kitchen with love and some participation from Logan. The little accent makes it!

Compared to some of the other stunt holiday food offerings out there, this one really captures those fun comic book nods while being very delicious. It is well-seasoned, and there’s no skimping on the red sauce. It is such a good, hearty theme park plate—not pint-sized, like the other Festival of the Holidays fare—and it will definitely help you refuel during the busy holiday season. Just wait to eat this after going on Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout. We don’t want it to snow chunks, though Chef Deadpool would be proud either way.

Star Wars Life Day snacks at Galaxy’s Edge – Disneyland

The in-universe menu options across Galaxy’s Edge started so deeply alien to the average park goer that the quick-service restaurants soon changed the names of things on the menu to reflect what they were actually made of. Tip Yip (Endorian chickens) is now very clearly marked as chicken, which, as any Star Wars mythology buff will agree, is kind of a bummer. But even with mass appeal an important consideration, now and again, we do get some winning fandom foodie combinations.

Thank the maker that when Disneyland decided to embrace the canon holiday Chewbacca celebrates with his friends and family in the Star Wars Holiday Special, it slipped in some seasonal fun to test the reaction of Batuu tourists. This year, the menu has gotten more robust, and we were able to try some of the snacks that have gone viral because, as we found out, they’re really darn good.

First up was the Life Day Cheese Branch from Kat Saka’s Kettle. We kind of wish it was called Orga root; in the special, Wookiees eat that to ascend spiritually to another plane and connect with the Life Day Tree, where they celebrate with loved ones living and passed. Honestly, it might as well have been called that because the taste did take me on a spiritual journey to cheese nirvana. The seeds, the parmesan, the cream cheese, and the spicy alfredo dipping sauce really took me off-world.

And the Kerkoiden Cold Hot Chocolate? In our opinion, this is what blue milk should have always been. It’s a creamy white chocolate and Mexican chocolate-based elixir that is presented as iced and spiced cereal milk and comes with strawberry pastry crumbles. I would drink this more often than the frozen fruity slush at the Galaxy’s Edge Milk Stand and hope this gets included in more future Blue Milk offerings. Milk as many Kerks as you have to!

We’re thoroughly impressed, and just so you know, Disney, certain foods are integral to Life Day—especially that branch, so these need to be brought back every year.

Holidays at the Disneyland Resort are in full swing until January 7, 2026.
