Any performer will tell you that entrance music is crucial. Choosing the right piece of music to accompany you as you enter a stadium or event can not just set the tone for the night, but also convey everything that you’re about. Star Wars characters don’t usually get moments like that. But Star Wars characters aren’t usually Maul: Shadow Lord.

Premiering on Disney+ starting April 6, Maul: Shadow Lord is Star Wars‘ latest animated show, following in the footsteps of The Bad Batch, Rebels, and Resistance. The show follows Maul (voiced by Sam Witwer) in the events after The Clone Wars, as he’s trying to reestablish himself among the criminal syndicates. And what you have below is a clip from very early in the first episode, where Maul makes the grand entrance into his own show. Which he does with exactly the entrance music you’d hope for. Thanks to IGN for the clip.

“Duel of the Fates” didn’t play when the artist formerly known as Darth Maul first appeared in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, but it did play over his most famous entrance in that movie, as he’s getting ready to duel against Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. It has since very much become associated with the emotion of the moment, and playing it here very grandly announces, “Welcome to your very own Maul show, Star Wars fans.”

It’s unclear if the music will play in any of the subsequent episodes, but frankly, we hope it doesn’t. It’s too crucial and epic a piece of Star Wars music to use more than once. And if this is the moment the showrunners chose to use it in? That should be that. You can’t just keep playing the same thing over and over again. It loses its power. Maul will lose his power too, eventually (thanks to Obi-Wan Kenobi, in fact), but not for many years after this story is set.

Are you pumped to see the further adventures of Maul in Shadow Lord? What surprises do you hope it holds? Let us know below.
