Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold U.S. Price Is Not at All Surprising

After launching the Galaxy Z TriFold in South Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United Arab Emirates in December, Samsung is finally ready to sell its first dual-hinge foldable phone in the U.S.

The foldable phone will launch in the U.S. on Jan. 30 at Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores, and start at a whopping $2,899. That gets you a device with 512GB of storage in Crafted Black. The finish, as I noted in my hands-on at CES 2026, resembles carbon fiber and has a grippy texture that helps prevent it from slipping out of your hand.

The price will make many people’s jaws drop, but it’s not unexpected. The Z TriFold released in South Korea for the equivalent of about $2,446 USD; many YouTubers and reviewers imported it for around $3,000. So Samsung is pricing the Z TriFold as predicted. For reference, the Z Fold 7 sells for $2,000 retail.

Unless you’re mega rich, forking out almost $3,000 for a phone is not something most people will be willing to do, especially in this economy. It’s a lot of money, but you get a whole lot of phone and tablet. Like any foldable that opens up into a tablet-size device, the Z TriFold’s main appeal is that it unfolds from a 6.5-inch phone into a 10-inch tablet.

Whether you’re watching a video, playing a game, or running multiple apps (or in the desktop-like DeX mode), the bump up in screen real estate is something you can immediately see and feel.

The tradeoff to this form factor is thickness and weight. The Z Trifold is chunkier and heavier than the Z Fold 7, which impressed with its slim and lightweight frame.

Other than that, you’re getting flagship specs. The Z TriFold is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset and has 16GB of RAM. It has a triple-lens camera system on the back with a 200-megapixel main, 12-megapixel ultrawide, and a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto. There’s also a 10-megapixel hole-punch camera in both the external screen and the folding display. Battery-wise, the Z TriFold has a 5,600mAh, which supports 45W fast charging; there’s also built-in 15W wireless charging.

Since trying out the Z TriFold at CES, I’ve been waiting for a chance to test it out as my main phone. I loved the Z Fold 7 primarily because it was almost the same size as a Galaxy S25 Ultra, while offering the larger screen. Hard to say whether the Z TriFold is worth almost $3,000, but we’ll hopefully have an answer soon.
