Although smart rings have been around for a number of years, 2024 was the year the category came of age with some big names joining the party.
We’ve now got a chart dedicated to the best smart rings, so this award is a new entrant for 2024. Making for a more discreet and longer-lasting alternative to a smartwatch or an activity tracker, albeit currently more expensive, smart rings are here to stay.
Check out all the winners in this year’s Tech Advisor Best of 2024-25 Awards.
Note: The Oura Ring 4 has been announced but we haven’t been able to review it in time to consider it for these awards.
Best New smart ring of the Year – Winner: Samsung Galaxy Ring
Chris Martin / Foundry
It might be Samsung’s first-generation effort at a smart right but its pedigree in wearables has clearly helped here as the most complete smart ring package available right now. It might be at the more expensive end of the spectrum but has no subscription fees and a design that’s both attractive and far less prone to scratches than rivals.
Stress tracking could do with some work, but activity and wellness tracking is solid on the whole and the software experience is good too, apart from needing multiple apps. Battery life is also very good and we love the portable charging case.

Best New smart ring of the Year – First Runner-Up: RingConn Gen 2
Mike Sawh
The RingConn Gen 2 builds on an already decent smart ring and importantly offers the best battery performance on the market. Not only can the ring itself last up to 12 days, but the portable charging case can top it up a whopping 15-20 times.
It’s slim and comfortable with solid tracking and no subscription fees.

Best New smart ring of the Year – Second Runner-Up: Ultrahuman Ring Air
Mike Sawh
The Ultrahuman Ring Air is another recommended smart ring with a balance of price, design – which comes in five colours – and features.
It’s one of the slimmest around and presents tracking data in a clean and digestible way as well as offering good battery life. There are also no subscription fees.
