Friday 13th prequel Crystal Lake may have found its Pamela Voorhees. Cobra Kai‘s Jon Hurwitz still has hopes for more spinoffs. Plus, the one star Robert Kirkman still wants on Invincible. Spoilers now!
The Batman, Part II
Speaking with Variety, Robert Pattinson stated the “very cool” The Batman, Part II likely won’t begin filming until “the end of the year.”
I think at the end of the year? And I know what it’s about but I can’t tell anyone, but it’s like, it’s very cool. It’s very exciting.
Clayface
Elsewhere in the DC Universe, Deadline reports Truth or Dare‘s Jeff Waldow and Speak No Evil‘s James Watkins are under consideration to direct the Clayface movie written by Mike Flanagan.
Silent
According to Variety, Selma Blair is attached to star in Silent, a “supernatural thriller” from directors Doron and Yoaz Paz (Jeruzalem, The Golem) and writer Stephen Herman (Black Box). Blair is said to play Skylar, “a sound designer hired anonymously to create the audio for a rare silent film. Disturbed by its contents, Skylar is nonetheless increasingly obsessed with her work, and unwittingly finds herself caught up in a dark ritual that unlocks an ancient evil, threatening to consume her and her young daughter.”
Forbidden Fruits
Deadline also reports Diablo Cody and director Meredith Halloway have written a screen adaptation of Lily Houghton’s stage play, Of the Women Came the Beginning of Sin and Through Her We All Die. Retitled Forbidden Fruit, the story follows “Free Eden employee Apple, who secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store after hours–with fellow fruits Cherry and Fig. But when new hire Pumpkin challenges their ‘girl boss’ ways, the women are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate.”
O’Dessa
Sadie Sink leads a post-apocalyptic rock opera (boasting a similar premise to Don Bluth’s Rock-A-Doodle) from the director of Patti Cake$, co-starring Kelvin Harrison Jr., Murray Bartlett, Mark Boone Junior and Regina Hall in the trailer for O’Dessa.
Shadow of the Wolf
Elsewhere, Christopher Lambert (as a character named Prof. Moreau) mentors a crime-fighting werewolf in the trailer for Shadow of the Wolf, coming to VOD this March 25.
Until Dawn
Sony has also released another trailer for its Until Dawn movie coming this April.
Crystal Lake
According to a new rumor from The InSneider, Linda Cardellini is “in talks” play Pamela Voorhees in the upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake.
Untitled Cobra Kai Spinoff
Following yesterday’s series finale of Cobra Kai, Jon Hurwitz opined “perhaps there’s more Johnny Lawrence stories to tell going forward” in a new interview with Screen Rant.
It’s the closing of that 1984 story is, I think, what we would say. He ended in 1984; he had this rivalry with Daniel. He lost in this big crane-kick moment, and then in the aftermath, his sensei abandoned him and abused him in this situation. The end of Cobra Kai is Johnny not only redeeming himself as a winner, but dealing with the pain that he had from that moment that he had in high school. Johnny Lawrence will live on from here. Perhaps there’s more Johnny Lawrence stories to tell going forward, but in terms of that trauma that he had at the hands of Kreese and losing that big fight, he’s finally come out the other side in this Cobra Kai story.
Invincible
During a recent interview with Discussing Film, Robert Kirkman revealed he’s determined to convince Bryan Cranston to voice a character on Invincible, despite the actor turning the offer down multiple times.
Sometimes an actor is brought up for a role, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, never in a million years would have I thought of that.’ That’s when it’s really exciting. As far as dream casting goes, I think we offer Bryan Cranston a role every season. That has become our tradition, and his tradition is that he turns us down (laughs). But we’re coming for you again, Bryan, and we’ll see what happens next time. Fingers crossed! Literally, Bryan Cranston is the only actor that has turned us down.
Yellowjackets
Finally, the cast of Yellowjackets discuss season three (the first two episodes of which release today) in a new featurette.
