Report: Sadie Sink’s Mystery ‘Spider-Man’ Role Continues In ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

We don’t know much about Spider-Man: Brand New Day. We don’t know much about Avengers: Doomsday. And we really don’t know much about Avengers: Secret Wars. But, according to a new report, one unlikely actor might link them all. Or, should we say, there’s a “Sink” to them all.

Bad jokes aside, Deadline is reporting that Sadie Sink, who will appear in next year’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will reprise that role in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is out in December 2027.  io9 reached out to Marvel Studios, which did not offer a comment.

If true, though, it’s a fascinating piece of news for several reasons. The main one being that no one even knows who Sink is playing in Brand New Day. Rumors have been flying for months about which Marvel character she could be playing, and now, with production on that film set to wrap in the next few weeks, somehow the information remains guarded. But if she is important enough to reappear in Secret Wars, that changes the conversation a little bit.

There are one of two ways this could go. One is something fun and interesting. Secret Wars, at least in the comics, is about Marvel heroes from across the multiverse coming together to be thrust into the Battleworld, a hodgepodge of realities brought about by, at least in the second Secret Wars, the threat of cosmic implosions that are the “Incursions,” alternate realities smashing into each other and wiping themselves out. The movie version probably won’t be exactly that, but it is the end of “The Multiverse Saga.” So, maybe it’s a multiverse thing, and Sink is playing a character who isn’t a hero in one multiverse but is in another. Or vice versa. Normal friend of Spidey in Brand New Day, Spider-Woman in Secret Wars. Or, a burgeoning hero in Brand New Day, a full-fledged badass in Secret Wars.

The other option is the more likely one, where she’s the same character, hero or not, in both movies and is just there to support whatever story is happening. That doesn’t necessarily make it a bad thing, but it would be the less exciting option of the two.

All of which is very hard to speculate about since not only do we not know who she’s playing but also what happens in the next several related movies. So, feel free to continue the discussion below.

Sink, who is about to reprise her role in Stranger Things 5, will first appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, out on July 31, 2026. Avengers: Doomsday will continue that story on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars, which starts filming early next year, on December 17, 2027.
