Jack Reacher has become a true star of Amazon’s streaming platform. After the second season’s release, the series about the retired Military Police Officer became the most-watched title on Prime Video.
Given the popularity of the series and how many books Lee Child has written, we can be sure that the ex-military man will stay with us for a long time.
The third season is already looming on the horizon, and we’re gathering all the information about its plot, cast and premiere date.
When will Reacher season 3 be released?
The third instalment of Reacher will appear on Prime Video on Thursday, 20 February 2025 with a three-episode premiere. The following five episodes will appear on the service weekly.
Reacher is undoubtedly one of Amazon’s flagship series. It’s, therefore, no wonder that it was renewed for season 3 in December 2023 – even before season 2 came to an end. Alan Ritchson posted a teaser image from the set, showing that Jack will truly get ‘stuck in’ this season.
What will Reacher season 3 be about?
Season 1 was based on Lee Child’s debut novel, Killing Floor. It was the first of 28 books currently available in the Jack Reacher series. However, Amazon decided that the show’s second season would cover the events of volume 11, titled Bad Luck and Trouble, instead of volume 2. Skipping 10 books ahead is an unusual decision, but presumably, there was never a plan to make each book a season in itself.
According to Amazon, the third season of Reacher will be based on Persuader, the 7th book from the series by Lee Child.
The story begins with an attempted kidnapping, which Jack witnesses. He intervenes and, as usual, gets embroiled in a complicated criminal affair.
In Boston, Reacher meets a man he has long believed dead. Francis Xavier Quinn was once a military intelligence officer, but after he tried to sell US strategic plans to Iraq, he was declared a traitor.
Despite several gunshots, he managed to recover and became involved in another shady activity. Reacher decides to settle old scores with Quinn.
Here’s the logline for the show’s latest instalment:
In the third season of the action-packed series, Reacher (Alan Ritchson) hurtles into the dark heart of a vast criminal enterprise when trying to rescue an undercover DEA informant whose time is running out. There he finds a world of secrecy and violence – and confronts some unfinished business from his own past.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Alan Ritchson revealed that the new episodes will see Reacher in a completely new place and under new circumstances:
And we get to enjoy Reacher in a new world. It may not have anything to do with family, with his past, he’s just living that adventure out and that’s kind of the direction that we’ve gone and it seems to really be working.
Is there a trailer for Reacher season 3?
Yes, there is. It teases a new, beefy antagonist who will cause Reacher a lot of trouble.
Which cast members are confirmed for season 3 of Reacher?
The formula of Lee Child’s books is that Jack Reacher is constantly on the road, visiting new places and meeting new people. For this reason, most of the main characters are new additions. However, we will see the return of Alan Ritchson as Reacher and Maria Sten as Frances Neagley.
The cast also includes:
- Sonya Cassidy as Susan Duffy – Reacher’s new partner
- Olivier Richters as Paulie – a bodyguard
- Anthony Michael Hall as Zachary Beck – a rug importer potentially involved in a shady business
- Brian Tee as Quinn – a mysterious man from Reacher’s past
- Johnny Berchtold as Richard Beck – Zachary Beck’s son
- Daniel David Stewart as Steven Elliot – a DEA Agent
- Robert Montesinos as Guillermo Villanueva – an agent
