Race Across the World series 6 in summary:
- Applications for series 6 are open now
- Previous series follow a similar release window
- The Celebrity edition will return before series 6
BBC’s Race Across the World is an epic adventure that sees pairs make their way through foreign lands with no smartphone and limited resources – and tonight is the highly anticipated final episode of series 5.
In 2025, the main series once again visited Asia, this time beginning in The Great Wall of China, and ending in Kanniyakumari, the southernmost tip of India.
The route was a gruelling 14,000km. Along the way, teams have battled with public transport woes, money troubles and challenging environments.
The show is a brilliant way to see parts of the world that may not have been on your radar before, and think about the best way you would tackle a race on a shoestring budget. But after this year’s final airs, will the BBC hit return? We’ve rounded up everything we know so far.

Has Race Across the World been renewed for series 6?
We have good news – Race Across the World is coming back! Applications for series 6 are live now.
They close on 6 July 2025, so you’ve got a little while to think up your application (and, let’s face it, sob story).
When could Race Across the World series 6 be released?
If 2026’s instalment follows the same pattern as previous years, we’d expect to see series 6 of Race Across the World air sometime around April 2026.
If you can’t wait until then, never fear. We expect the Celebrity edition of the show to air later this year.
Do we know the route for Race Across the World series 6?
The Race Across the World series 6 route has not yet been confirmed by the BBC, and we likely won’t know it until closer to when the show airs.
However, we can look at other routes to identify parts of the world that haven’t been visited yet:
- Series 1: London to Marina Bay (Checkpoints in Greece, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, China, Cambodia and Singapore)
- Series 2: Mexico City to Ushuaia (Checkpoints in Honduras, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Brazil)
- Series 3: Vancouver to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (Checkpoints all in Canada)
- Celebrity Series 1: Marrakesh to Tromsø (Checkpoints in Portugal, France, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Norway)
- Series 4: Sapporo to Gili Meno (Checkpoints in Japan, South Korea, Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia)
- Celebrity Series 2: Belém to Frutillar (Checkpoints in Brazil, Argentina and Chile)
- Series 5: The Great Wall of China to Kanniyakumari (Checkpoints in China, Nepal and India)
Key locations that haven’t been visited on this list at all include the USA, Africa and Oceania. Of course, there are also large stretches of Europe and Asia that have been left untouched as well.
When the Celebrity edition airs later this year, this may help cross off some potential locations from the list.
