Part Three’ IMAX Tickets Right Now

In a move that feels like a huge line in the sand to Avengers: Doomsday, IMAX just released tickets for select 70mm IMAX screenings of Dune: Part Three eight months in advance. The film opens on December 18, but tickets are on sale right now at this link.

Nineteen theaters in the U.S. have tickets on sale only in the premium format and only at a few select times. So if you don’t get them today, or don’t want to make plans eight months out, you’ll be okay. But if you do want to be among the first fans to see the third, and likely final, Dune film from director Denis Villeneuve in his preferred format, now is the chance.

Get IMAX 70mm tickets now for Dune: Part Three and get a limited-edition collectible filmstrip—while supplies last. Dune: Part Three only in theaters and IMAX December 18. #DuneMovie #FilmedforIMAX https://t.co/VbUYvsh5Pw

Of course, Dune: Part Three isn’t the only film opening on December 18, at least for now. Another highly anticipated mega-blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday, is also scheduled to release that day. However, the current plan is for Dune: Part Three to be the only one of the two available in IMAX, while Avengers: Doomsday is expected to dominate the other premium formats. There are rumors that Avengers: Doomsday could move a week later with the new Jumanji having vacated its December 11 release date, but for now, nothing has changed.

And if all this feels oddly familiar, give yourself a gold star. Last year, IMAX surprisingly released 70mm IMAX tickets for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey a full year in advance, which created a ton of excitement as well as disappointment. This move is very similar. Sell just a select number of shows at a select number of theaters to get the word out that this is the way to see the film, and then, much later, sell other showtimes and all the other theaters.

Are you lucky enough to be close to one of these 19 theaters? Did you get tickets? Let us know below.
