Paramount Sets Dates for ‘Hearts Eyes’ and ‘Crawl’ Sequels

Paramount has a lot of movies it hopes will bring audiences in theaters, and it just planted some flags for a pair of upcoming horror flicks.

Arriving next year on July 16, 2027 is Crawl 2, the sequel to the 2019 hit. Directed by the returning Alexandre Aja, the flick stars Emily Rudd and Mason Gooding as a duo stuck in New York during a hurricane that’s brought in some alligators ready to chomp down on anything they see. Production is currently underway in Hungary, and according to Deadline, the summer date was internally locked down prior to this announcement.

Then, on February 4, 2028, Heart Eyes 2 will come to the masses. Moved up a week from its original mid-February date, the second movie will again by helmed by Josh Ruben, who directed the first. (Paramount handled the original’s distribution in most international territories, and has domestic rights for the sequel.) Being further out, plot details on the second movie are under wraps, but Olivia Holt is reportedly back as Ally. At time of writing, there’s no word on whether Gooding will be back as love interest Jay.

Currently, Crawl 2 is sandwiched in between Warner Bros.’ Man of Tomorrow (July 9) and A Minecraft Movie Squared (July 23), with Paramount closing that month with A Quiet Place Part III on July 30. As for Heart Eyes 2, not a lot of movies have hard dates in 2028 just yet, but the genre films that do—like X-Men, Tangled, and Evil Dead Wrath—are weeks or even months away from February 11 that year. Paramount’s yearly track record is fairly solid when it comes to horror, and with Crawl 2 and Heart Eyes 2, that may continue.
