Work on the set of the Outlander prequel is already done, and Starz is releasing sneak peeks for fans of the series. The first teaser shows two couples: Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, living in the 18th century, and Julie Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, during World War One. You may guess how they’re related to the protagonists of the original Outlander.
Based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel series, Outlander has had a dedicated following since 2014. Soon, fans of the story of handsome Jamie Fraser and plucky Claire Beauchamp will have another reason to dream of travelling (not necessarily through time) to the Scottish Highlands.
Although the Blood of My Blood prequel series won’t be based on any Gabaldon novels, viewers can certainly look forward to everything that Outlander became famous for – a spectacular love story, Scottish clans, and the brutal reality of the 18th-century British Isles.
The showrunner, writer, and executive producer of Blood of My Blood is Matthew B. Roberts, who also developed Outlander. He co-wrote the script for the prequel with Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davies. Diana Gabaldon is a creative consultant on the series.

Blood of My Blood plot
The new Starz series will focus on Jamie Fraser’s parents, but Claire’s mother and father will also play an important role in the story. All indications are that the story will once again feature two timelines and two historical eras.
Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, lived in the Scottish Highlands in the early 18th century. Their marriage was considered a violation of the social order. Descended from the family that ruled Castle Leoch, Ellen kept her relationship with Fraser a secret from her brothers, Colum and Dougal.
Claire’s parents, Julie Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, lived in the late 19th and early 20th century. There isn’t much information about them in Diana Gabaldon’s books or the original TV series. Due to her parents’ untimely deaths, Claire didn’t have many memories of them. However, it’s known that the prequel will focus on their fate in England during the First World War.
Here are the first images of both couples:
As the showrunner of the series, Matthew B. Roberts said:
We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples. The origins of their relationships explore universal themes that transcend time periods and we’re so excited for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories the way they have with Claire and Jamie.
