Open Channel: What’d You Think of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day?’

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, but he’s back onscreen with Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Releasing this weekend in theaters (and ahem, X for a bit), the fourth MCU Spidey outing picks up years after Spider-Man: No Way Home. With no one knowing who he is and having left his friends behind, Peter’s become a full-time hero for New York, which hasn’t entirely been good on his mental health. Amidst physical changes and resisting pulling the mind-wiped MJ and Ned back into his orbit, a new enemy is bodyjacking people around the city to do…something, and it’s up to Peter to sort his shit out and stop them.

Like past Spider-movies before it, Brand New Day has come frontloaded with a lot of hype behind it. People always love them some Spider-Man, but this film was promising to make good on its subtitle and be a fresh start for Peter: Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton helmed the film, and it’s more of a street-level, personal affair than the prior films. The end result is a movie with mostly good reviews, but one fans were already ready to love once they saw the new suit and learned about some of the friends and foes Peter would be facing.

We’ll get to how much money Spider-Man: Brand New Day has made in its opening weekend—it’s definitely “a lot,” just a matter of “how much”—but for now, we want to know what you thought of it. Was it the Spider-movie of your dreams since Spider-Man 2 (the 2004 one), and does it work as a soft reboot for the character? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
