OnePlus is the latest company to join the tablet party, with its first such device arriving last year. Although the OnePlus Pad was quite impressive, its successor was never likely to be far away.
And indeed, OnePlus’ latest Android tablet has arrived. Known as the OnePlus Pad Pro in China, it’s the OnePlus Pad 2 in Europe and the US.
You can find out everything you need to know about it below.
When was the OnePlus Pad 2 released?
OnePlus unveiled the Pad 2 on 16 July 2024. It’s identical to the recently launched OnePlus Pad Pro in China.
Open sales in the US started on 30 July 2024, while Europe got the device on 1 August 2024.
How much does the OnePlus Pad 2 cost?
The OnePlus Pad 2 comes in grey and had a launch price of $550/£500, although you may now be able to buy it for less. As a reminder, the original OnePlus Pad was available for $499/£449.
You can buy the OnePlus Pad 2 from OnePlus in the US or from OnePlus in the UK.
What specs and features does the OnePlus Pad 2 have?
The OnePlus Pad Pro was rebranded in the West as the Pad 2, so it’s basically the same device. Therefore its specification is exactly the same.
Design & display
The OnePlus Pad 2 builds on the design of its predecessor, the original OnePlus Pad, retaining its metal body with curved edges and a centrally positioned, round camera block. A notable visual change is the new Nimbus Gray colour, replacing the Halo Green of the original.
The Pad 2 features a larger 12.1-inch 3K display, up from 11.6 inches, while maintaining the 7:5 aspect ratio, making it taller and wider. The screen now supports a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate and boasts 900 nits of brightness, significantly brighter than before.
The tablet also includes six stereo speakers, potentially improving upon the audio quality of the previous model.
Performance
The OnePlus Pad 2 is equipped with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage. You also get Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and Wi-Fi 7 for connectivity.
As a reminder, the OnePlus Pad ran on MediaTek Dimensity 9000 paired with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage.
Cameras
The OnePlus Pad 2 has an 8Mp front-facing camera and 13Mp rear camera, just like the original OnePlus Pad.
Battery & charging
It also has the same 9510mAh battery and offers 67W charging support, but there’s no charger in the box for European buyers.
Software
The tablet runs on OxygenOS 14 skin based on Android 14, which comes with several OnePlus continuity features.
There’s Content Sync which, as implied, syncs your photos and videos between your OnePlus phone and tablet. There’s also clipboard sync and notification sync, as well as AI tricks like AI Eraser 2.0 to handle photo edits, Smart Cutout 2.0 for collages and stickers, and AI Summary.
