OnePlus Pad 2 Pro now available – but there’s a catch

The OnePlus Pad 2 Pro tablet is now available to buy – but only if you live in China.

We’ve been eagerly anticipating the launch of the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro for some time now, with numerous reports and rumours surrounding its specs and capabilities emerging. We were big fans of the OnePlus Pad 2 (pictured above), launched in mid-2024.

Now the Pro follow up has appeared on Oppo’s domestic website at a starting price of just 3,199 Chinese Yuan. That’s about £330, though such direct translations are rarely helpful.

Specs and Oppo similarities

If you’re wondering why OnePlus devices are being sold on Oppo’s website, the simple explanation is that the latter is the former’s parent company.

The links run deeper than that on this occasion, though. The OnePlus Pad 2 Pro bears a strong resemblance to the previously launched Oppo Pad 4 Pro. They have nigh-on identical spec sheets, including a 13.2-inch 144Hz LCD with a 3,392 x 2,400 resolution.

Both tablets are powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, making them two of the most powerful non-Apple tablets on the market. They certainly outgun the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.

They also run off the same 12140 mAh battery, and are supported by 67W wired charging. The dimensions are identical, too, at 289.6 x 209.7 x 6mm and 675g, and there’s the same 13MP camera and colour spectrum sensor around back, housed in the same-shaped camera module.

The OnePlus Pad 2 Pro even runs on the same ColorOS 15 UI as its twin brother. OnePlus’s OxygenOS is generally only applied to devices in the West.

Whether we get to see the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro here in the UK remains to be seen. It might be a simple rebrand of the Oppo Pad 4 Pro, but given that we haven’t seen either device launched over here as yet, that really wouldn’t be much of an issue.
