Wonder Man is one of Marvel’s best shows of all time, but as it ended, you just had a sense that we’d never see those characters again. But, that is now incorrect. Marvel Studios just shockingly announced that the show is returning for season two.
“Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery will return for Marvel Television’s Wonder Man Season 2, co-created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, coming to Disney Plus,” the news reads on social media. There’s no timeline on the return but it’s safe to assume Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley will return to those roles.

Season one of the show ended with Simon starring in the titular movie and becoming a huge star, making all his dreams come true. However, he only achieved that when Trevor took responsibility for Simon’s mass destruction on the set of the film, once again claiming to be the Mandarin. So, in the ultimate act of sacrifice and friendship, Simon gave all that up to use his powers and break Trevor out of prison. It was a perfect ending to this incredible tale, while also leaving infinite possibilities for the future.
And now, we’ll get to see them. Since the first season of the show was so steeped in Hollywood tropes, we hope that continues here. That we get to see how the industry deals with the news of Simon and Trevor teaming up again. Or, maybe, that gets covered up. Plus, you have to figure that Simon’s full abilities as Wonder Man could become a central storyline as well. Will he embrace life as a superhero? Will he try to continue acting? Will he start to cross over into the more general MCU, especially in a post-Avengers: Doomsday/Avengers: Secret Wars world?
We don’t know! But we are beyond excited that we are going to find out. Are you surprised Wonder Man is coming back for season two?
