Marvel Adds ‘Ghost Rider’ to a Crowded 2028 Slate

Marvel Studios is getting back to its old ways. Weeks after announcing that Black Panther III will be coming on December 15, 2028, and mere days after announcing the new X-Men film is coming on May 5, 2028, it just slotted another film into its 2028 release schedule: Ghost Rider, starring Ryan Gosling.

That film, directed by Shawn Levy, will be released on July 28, 2028. That makes 2028 the first time Marvel will release three movies in one year since the ill-fated 2025, which saw Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and Fantastic Four all fail to meet expectations and force a majorly pared-down schedule for a few years.

But, as we all expect, Avengers: Doomsday (out on December 18) and next year’s Avengers: Secret Wars are acting as an Endgame-level reset to the franchise, which the company hopes will be anchored by the X-Men. Where Ghost Rider fits in, if at all, remains to be seen.

Marvel also just added a movie on November 9, 2029, which rounds out a 2029 that included previous dated but untitled films on May 4, 2029, and July 13, 2029. So the three-movies-a-year pace is likely to continue. And now that Ghost Rider and X-Men have been officially slotted, it means speculation can move ahead to those dates. (Shang-Chi 2? Blade? Guardians of the Galaxy 4? Nova? Deadpool vs Someone?)

Also, in a post-D23 world, several “Untitled Disney” release dates have now been given concrete titles. Pixar’s Ghost Market will be released on March 10, 2028, the Tangled remake will be released on March 31, 2028, the animated Clay will be released on November 22, 2028, and Coco 2 will be released on November 21, 2029.

Still no updates on Star Wars after 2027 but we’d imagine that happens sooner rather than later. Ditto with Avatar, though the fourth and fifth films in that franchise are still dated for 2029 and 2031, respectively.

Bringing things back to Marvel, though, do you think the marketplace will be ready to sustain three movies per year again come 2028? Are you excited for these three in particular? Let us know below.
