Webtoon’s popular romance webcomic Lore Olympus is getting adapted into an animated series for Prime Video.

You might remember that an adaptation was announced all the way back in 2019, with vague updates provided by Webtoon here and there. Per the Hollywood Reporter, it’s now been given a full season order by the streamer. It’ll be developed by the Jim Henson Company and showrun by Julia Cooperman, who previously wrote on AMC’s Pantheon and the CW’s The Winchesters.

Created by Rachel Smythe, the comic retells the Greek myth of Persephone and Hades in a mostly modern setting. Over the years, it’s become one of the world’s most-read comics, racked up awards on a yearly basis, and received physical editions.

In a statement, Cooperman said reading Lore Olympus “reminded me of the enduring power of [Greek mythology], which echo through so much of our modern-day storytelling. We can’t wait to share this frisky, soulful, and timely reimagining of Persephone and Hades’ story with new audiences and longtime readers alike.”

If it sounds like something you’d like, you can check out Lore Olympus on Webtoon or at bookstores. We’ll have more on the upcoming show as news emerges.
