Every year has movies to look forward to, and one of the big ones in 2026 has been Project Hail Mary. We’ve got Ryan Gosling as the lead, Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing their first live-action movie in a decade, and the trailers have looked pretty good…even if they also gave away a key plot point fans of Andy Weir’s novel would rather they hadn’t. Oh, well.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a space movie quite in this vein, and Amazon’s been really working to make sure audiences go and see this. That determination seems to be well-earned, because critics and audiences have been pretty high on Hail Mary so far. That positivity’s already reflected in the (currently incomplete) weekend box office, and chatter online shows a lot of love for both Gosling’s performance and his alien co-lead, Rocky. How could you not like Rocky, I mean, look at him.
While we wait to see how Project Hail Mary endures in theaters and shapes out throughout the rest of 2026, we want to hear your opinions on it. Loved it, hated it, inspired to check out the book (or re-read it) and compare the two, let us know how you feel down in the comments below.
