“Where does he get those wonderful toys?” Well, in this case, from Lego. The popular brand just announced a new set themed to 1992’s Batman Returns, directed by Tim Burton. On the surface, it’s similar to the 2019 Batmobile from the original 1989 film. Fewer pieces, but still very nice. Then you realize Lego went a step beyond with this one and, well, it’s awesome.

The brand-new, 2,269 piece Batmobile from Batman Returns debuts on September 4 (September 1 for Lego Insiders) with a price tag of $230. It’s 17 inches long, 6.5 inches wide, 4 inches high, and comes with a Batman minifigure exclusive to this set. Most importantly, though, it can transform from the iconic Batmobile into the Batmissile, just like in the movie. Here are some images.

As you can see from the pictures, there’s a button in the back of the standard Batmobile that you press and, Poof! Batmissile.

With Batman Returns, Tim Burton kind of began the tradition of every single Batman film having new vehicles. The first movie had the Batmobile, the Batmobile with shields, and the Batwing. Returns had the Batboat, plus the Batmobile turning into the Batmissile. That Lego somehow figured out how to pull that off in a way that doesn’t completely destroy the set is kind of amazing. We’re very curious just how easily it breaks apart and if it’s difficult to snap back together again.

For more on the Batman Returns Lego, head over to the official Lego website. This is one of the coolest geek sets in a while. Do you agree?
