Pretty soon, Quentin Tarantino’s acclaimed Kill Bill duology is coming back to theaters as a single film. And it seems that might not be the end of things, as the filmmaker’s now got some ideas in mind to continue the story of the two movies.

During a recent screening of “Yuki’s Revenge,” an animated “lost chapter” coming to Fortnite, Tarantino talked about wanting to give its titular villain an origin story. The idea sprang to mind back when he was doing the two movies, but he told the crowd at his Vista Theater it’d essentially be “about how Bill became Bill and the three godfathers that made him: Esteban Vihaio, Pai Mei, and Hattori Hanzō.”

Tarantino said he’s got “other things to do right now,” and even wondered if he’d be alive to make this Bill prequel. But it’s on his mind, and he’d like to do it animated because he had such a good time working on “Yuki’s Revenge” that he’s taken a greater interest in the medium. For that, he provided the voice of Bill, who was portrayed in the two Kill Bill films by David Carradine before his passing in 2009. The three figures mentioned—Esteban, Pai, and Hanzō—mentored Bill growing up and met Uma Thurman’s Beatrix Kiddo during her quest to kill him.

Over the years, Tarantino’s mentioned wanting to do more with Kill Bill, including a third film pairing Thurman with her real-life daughter Maya Hawke. Even with other things on his plate, the interest means he might be willing to make that film or this animated prequel happen before he retires or passes. Until then, there’s the Final Cut compilation hitting theaters on December 5.
