The Mummy 4 is ready to start filming this summer. Arnold Schwarzenegger is preparing to become Conan the Barbarian once more. Plus, Heather Graham teases the modern elements to Mike Flanagan’s take on Carrie. Spoilers, assemble!

Signal One

Variety reports Isabelle Fuhrman, Josh Hutcherson, David Thewlis, and Dennis Quaid will star in Signal One, a sci-fi film from director Jonathan Sobol concerning “the brilliant computer scientist Annika” who “ventures to an isolated facility run by the brilliant, nihilistic creator of LITTLEMOUTH, a machine which can communicate with alien intelligence. Annika soon learns some humanity-altering facts: that we are not alone in the universe, that alien intelligences are communicating around us at every moment, and that we are likely too primitive to even remotely understand what they are trying to tell us. But when the goal of the endeavor shifts from listening to talking back, the project rapidly devolves into chaos. With contact comes consequences, and soon Annika and the team must work to ensure the very survival of our species.”

Untitled Takashi Miike Project

Deadline also has word Hailey Benton Gates (Twin Peaks: The Return) will star alongside Charli xcx, Milly Alcock, Norman Reedus, Kiko Mizuhara, and Show Kasamatsu in Takashi Miike’s currently untitled latest film.  Set in Kyoto, the “slasher horror” film follows “three best friends who reunite and rekindle their lifelong friendship during what is intended to be a carefree girls trip. The getaway spirals into terror when Katie (Charli xcx) becomes possessed by a violent, tortured spirit (Mizuhara), unleashing a nightmare steeped in Japanese horror tradition.”

The Matrix 5

Speaking with Variety, director Drew Goddard stated he “can’t speak to” whether Keanu Reeves will return for The Matrix 5, admitting he’s “still in the stage of writing it.”

I can’t say too much, because we’re still in the stage of writing it. I need to give myself space to find the best story. I think the approach will be the way I approach anything, which is, do I love it? And I love what Lana and Lilly Wachowski did with those movies. They mean so much to me, and I feel like they’ve had a profound impact on my creative voice. I take this responsibility very seriously. I feel the weight of wanting to do right by the fans, wanting to do right by the creators, and wanting to do right for myself as a fan.

Star Wars

John Boyega replied, “I actually have,” when asked if he’s spoken to Dave Filoni about returning to the Star Wars franchise during his recent appearance at Megacon Orlando. [SFF Gazette]

The Mummy 4

According to co-director Tyler Gillett in a recent interview with Collider, filming on The Mummy 4 is scheduled to begin this August.

We’re supposed to start prep in May, and hopefully shooting starts in August.

R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead, Part II

THR also has word that a sequel to R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead is now in development at Tubi from original director Jem Garrard. The story concerns Evan, “a student dealing with bullies who finds a forbidden spellbook that revives the ancient curse for his town of Redhaven. This leads the pumpkin-headed children of previous sacrifices to emerge from the earth in hopes of claiming the town during its Harvest Festival. Perhaps the only hope for Redhaven is the return of a witch who is dead set on destroying the book.”

Josie and the Pussycats 2

Speaking with People about the latent popularity of the Josie and the Pussycats movie, Rachel Leigh Cook confirmed there isn’t “any talk” of a sequel at present.

I don’t think I would need to touch it myself. I’m proud of what we made. Maybe if they did some time traveling, maybe there’s something that could be weird and interesting. I do not think that there’s any talk of anything like that. It took long enough for people to get it the first time. We’re not gonna push our luck, I don’t think.

King Conan

According to The New York Post, Arnold Schwarzenegger is “pushing himself to the limit” to redevelop the muscular physique needed to play Conan the Barbarian in King Conan.

Fast Forever

A new Instagram post from Vin Diesel strongly suggests Fast Forever will be the final entry in the Fast and the Furious franchise.

The Last of Us

Variety reports Michelle Mao (Bridgerton) and Kyriana Kratter (Star Wars: Skeleton Crew) have joined the cast of The Last of Us as Yara and Lev, respectively.

Mike Flanagan’s Carrie

In conversation with Collider, Heather Graham confirmed Carrie White will be cyberbullied in Mike Flanagan’s upcoming modernization.

I have seen the first three episodes, and they’re great. They bring in an aspect of social media bullying and guns in school, so they try to modernize it, and I do feel like he captures the essence of what makes Carrie great.

Invincible

Finally, Robert Kirkman suggested the fifth season of Invincible will release around the same time next year.

I think that a pattern has formed, but I can’t confirm anything. Maybe it will be April. Maybe May. Maybe January. I don’t know. Who knows? We’ll see. But I would say that the goal is to is to come back in this general timeframe.
