Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed show continues to expand its cast. Not even Sam Heughan is sure how Outlander is ending. Mike Flanagan teases his approach to the new Carrie. Plus, get a look at what’s coming in the new season of Primal. Spoilers, away!

The Great Beyond

According to World of Reel, J.J. Abrams’ mysterious “comeback” feature currently in post-production is now titled The Great Beyond and concerns “an author of popular fantasy novels who reveals that the mythical world he’s known for creating is actually real, sending the lead character (Glenn Powell) on a quest.” The film co-stars Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Assassin’s Creed

Deadline reports Tanzyn Crawford (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) will play an undisclosed “series regular” in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed TV show at Netflix.

Doctor Who

Contrary to recent rumormongering, Erin Doherty confirmed “there have been no discussions” about her playing the 16th Doctor in a recent interview with the Radio Times.

I’ve heard the Doctor Who rumour, and I’m into sci-fi and fantasy, but I can honestly say there have been no discussions.

It: Welcome to Derry

Meanwhile, Finn Wolfhard discussed his surprise role in It: Welcome to Derry in a recent interview with Esquire.

I knew that years ago, actually. When they first started thinking about that show, it was probably 2021. Barbara and Andy Muschietti both told me, “You’re involved.” Yeah, I’m connected. I think there’s something else that will come up eventually that I’m excited for people to see.

Outlander

Speaking with People, Sam Heughan admitted he still doesn’t “really know” how Outlander ends, as the series concludes well before the end of the books.

We don’t really know how it ends. We kind of know, but we shall see in the edit ourselves.

I hope they feel we have done justice to the characters and to the story and to the fans. You know, it’s hard. How do you finish a show like that? Obviously, we didn’t finish the books. We had to finish our show, so it is a departure from the books in some ways, but for us, it was rewarding, and we wanted to finish it right.

Carrie

Elsewhere, Mike Flanagan spoke to Empire Magazine (via Deadline) about how his upcoming Carrie TV series broke his rule of not making sequels or remakes.

A new way presented itself, something that felt very timely and new. I’ve really enjoyed chasing the things that hadn’t already been done, and trying to find new ways into them. And I used to say, ‘No sequels.’

It proved to be irresistible. The Shining is a story about alcoholism, and because Steve wrote this sequel of sorts that is a story about recovery, it presented this thing of, ‘Oh, we’re painting the second side of the same coin; we’re completing a story.’

The Dark Tower

In the same story, Mike Flanagan also confirmed his planned Dark Tower series is “moving” with “lots of scripts.”

It’s moving. We’ve got a lot of scripts done for it. It’s the first priority.

Primal

Finally, Spear meets his zombified form on the astral plane in a new clip from Primal‘s third season.
