In Pixar’s ‘Hoppers’, the Animal World Wants War

Before Pixar returns to the world of toys, it’s going to the animal kingdom. Hoppers comes out March 6, 2026 and it tells the story of humans who have finally figured out a way to communicate with animals. You just “hop” your brain into an animal body. But it turns out having human thoughts in animals quickly turns into something else. Something scary. It turns into a potential war.

A new trailer for Hoppers was just released, and in it, we hear the voices of a ton of new characters. Meryl Streep, for example, is the Insect Queen, but Dave Franco, Kathy Najimy, Melissa Villaseñor, Ego Nwodim, Vanessa Bayer, Sam Richardson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and many more have also just been announced. They join previously announced leads Piper Curda as Mabel, Bobby Moynihan as King George, and Jon Hamm as Jerry. Listen for them in the new trailer, which dives more into the surprising story of the film.

I have to say, when Hoppers was first announced, the idea of humans moving their consciousness into animals felt like nothing more than a cute idea. We didn’t expect the movie to actually be about one of those humans inspiring the animal kingdom to fight back against humans. And the fact that the instant human ideology is seeded into the animal community, their thoughts immediately go to war, feels pretty dang bleak.

But we’re sure it’ll all work out in the end. It is a Disney movie, after all. And, of course, that voice cast is killer.

“We have assembled a legendary cast for Hoppers, and the voice talent really gave the film all they had. Be it uproarious humor, heartfelt emotion, or crazy animal noises, they delivered beyond our expectations,” director Daniel Chong and producer Nicole Paradis Grindle said in a press release.

The film joins the deluge of other 2026 films getting trailers this week ahead of the release of Wicked: For Good. Do you think Hoppers is going to live up to that Pixar standard? We’ll find out on March 6, 2026.
