Last year, Bloody Disgusting and Terrifier 3 distributor Cineverse announced a partnership to revive the holiday slasher series Silent Night, Deadly Night. Now, the reboot’s found its first major casting in Rohan Campbell, who will play the first film’s villain, Billly Chapman.
Bloody Disgusting itself broke the news, teasing the actor would “punish the naughty” in a “fresh take” on the 1984 film. Campbell’s best known for playing Corey Cunningham in Halloween Ends, a protégé of sorts to Michael Myers who could be considered Ends’ co-antagonist. (Being an apprentice to Michael goes about as well as you’d expect.) More recently, he appeared in Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey and was a co-lead on Hulu’s Hardy Boys show.
In the original Silent Night, Deadly Night, Billy (played by Robert Brian Wilson) suffered a psychotic break as a child when he witnesses a man dressed as Santa kill his parents on Christmas Eve, only to take up a similar role himself as an adult. Billy’s story continued across the second and third film, and he’s divisive in the slasher/horror pantheon. Some consider him among the best or creepiest, others found him (and the film overall) deeply offensive back in the day.
What else in store for the reboot written and directed by Wrong Turn’s Mike P. Nelson? Bloody Disgusting teased “much more” news for Silent Night, Deadly Night in the coming weeks ahead of its release this holiday season.
