Here’s an Awesome Teaser for Marvel’s Ironheart

This summer isn’t just bringing the Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four into the forefront of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’re getting Ironheart too. After introducing the character in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, director Ryan Coogler is helping to bring Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, to the forefront with her own show on Disney+. It debuts June 24, and though the first trailer isn’t coming until Wednesday, Marvel released an excellent teaser setting up the character, the stakes, and the story.

Dominique Thorne plays Riri, whose story picks up after the events of Wakanda Forever. In the film, she got a new suit to fly around in like Iron Man, but of course the Wakandans didn’t let her keep it. So, what does a college student do when they’ve experienced that type of power? You get a glimpse of that here in this featurette.

No, that’s not a trailer, but there sure is a lot of new footage in there. Cool new suit, lots of action, and a new glimpse at the modern MCU. We also love how this makes it very clear that Ironheart is not coming to the MCU to replace Iron Man. Riri isn’t Iron Man. She’s her own character with her own wants and needs, who just so happens to be as smart and innovative as the late, great Tony Stark.

This show has been coming for a while so it’s nice to finally see the marketing ramp up for it. Unfortunately, it’s also coming at a time when Marvel has slowed down on the crossover potential between Marvel shows and movies. So we don’t know if or when we’ll ever see Riri back on the big screen again. But at least we’ll soon get to see what’s next for this awesome character.

Co-starring Anthony Ramos and Alden Ehrenreich, Ironheart hits Disney+ June 24. Check back Wednesday for the full trailer.
