After three seasons, the star-studded leading trio of Only Murders in the Building don’t need any introduction – and neither do the residents of the Arconia who have frequented the show. However, the fourth instalment of the series features quite a few new characters and cameos you might not have expected.
Therefore, we decided to compile a list of all the celebrity guest appearances in season 4 – no matter how long or short they are. We will update it weekly.

Meryl Streep as Loretta Durkin
Loretta first appears in season 3 as a candidate for a role in Oliver’s stage play – the Broadway performance is her breakthrough. Loretta also becomes Oliver’s love interest. However, the future of their relationship is uncertain – as the actress gets a role in the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off and moves to LA. Loretta is also the real-life mother of Dickie, Ben Glenroy’s brother, whom she gave up for adoption shortly after his birth.
Three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep’s biggest hits include films like The Kramer vs. Kramer, The French Lieutenant’s Woman, Mamma Mia, The Devil Wears Prada, Out of Africa, Sophie’s Choice and The Hours.
Zach Galifianakis as himself
Zach Galifianakis is one of several actors playing a fictionalised version of himself. In the show, he is set to star as Oliver in the film adaptation of Only Murders in the Building podcast. Zach hasn’t had more affection for Oliver, though he changed his mind on the man after learning about his years of struggling to succeed.
Galifianakis is best known for his role in the buddy comedy The Hangover and the sequels The Hangover Part II and Part III. He also appeared in the films Birdman and Tulip Fever.
Eugene Levy as himself
Eugene Levy is set to play Charles in the Hollywood adaptation of the podcast. The pair arguably established the strongest relationship of the three couples, sleuthing together to try and discover clues. Of course, Eugene is just as awkward as Charles and is determined to get his mannerisms down to a tee.
Levy is best known for his role in American Pie movies and his performance as Johnny Rose in the Schitt’s Creek series, for which he won an Emmy Award.
Eva Longoria as herself
In the series, Paramount Studios chooses Longoria to star as Mabel in the film adaptation of the podcast. In her own words, the choice of an older actress is supposed to bridge the problematic “age gap” between Mabel and Oliver and Charles in the film. The actress gives Mabel advice on negotiating with the producers, thanks to which Mabel manages to strike a favourable deal with the studio.
When the pair begin investigating murders together, their different approaches initially clash. However, Mabel begins to learn from her partner and gets answers much quicker than she might have done if she were alone.
Eva Longoria gained popularity for her role as Gabrielle Solis in the series Desperate Housewives.
Molly Shannon as Bev Melon
Bev is a determined producer at Paramount Studios trying to make a movie based on the podcast Only Murders in the Building.
Molly Shannon is an actress and comedian who gained popularity for her performances on Saturday Night Live. She has also starred in Wet Hot American Summer, Promising Young Woman and in the TV series The White Lotus.
Scott Bakula as himself
The actor, best known for the TV series Star Trek: Enterprise and Quantum Leap, appears at a Hollywood party thrown by Paramount Studios. Charles mistakenly takes Bakula for Sazz and learns from him that the stuntwoman didn’t appear on the production set in which Bakula is playing.
Jane Lynch as Sazz Pataki
Charles’ body double was one of the most recognisable characters in the series. Unfortunately, Sazz met a tragic end in the season 3 finale. At the start of season 4, Mabel, Charles and Oliver found her ashes in an old incinerator at the Arconia. However, Sazz appears in season 4 as a vision of Charles.
Jane Lynch is best known for her comedic roles. She has appeared in the series Glee, Two and a Half Men, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Jin Ha as Marshall Peepope
Marshall is an eccentric young screenwriter set to create the script for the Mabel, Charles and Oliver podcast adaptation.

Siena Werber as Tawny Brothers
Tawny is a young director who gets to make her Hollywood debut – an adaptation of Only Murders in the Buildings podcast.
Siena Werber starred in the series The Sympathizer.
Catherine Cohen as Trina Brothers
Trina is Tawny’s twin sister and co-director of the film based on the Mabel, Oliver and Charles podcast.
You may know Catherine Cohen from What We Do in the Shadows.
Amy Ryan as Jan
The seemingly friendly bassoonist appears in Only Murders in the Building season 1 and eventually becomes Charles’ love interest. Sadly, it comes out that Jan is also a serial killer who not only murdered Tim Kono but also plans to kill Charles. Ultimately, she ends up in prison but never loses her affection for her ex-boyfriend.
In season 2, she starts a relationship with Sazz, and in season 4, she escapes the prison and briefly visits Charles in Arconia when she becomes worried for her girlfriend.
Amy Ryan is best known for her work in The Wire, The Office and In Treatment and for starring in films such as Gone Baby Gone and Win Win.
Richard Kind as Vince Fish
Vince is a resident of West Arconia who is observed by Charles from his window. He suffers from chronic pink eye, causing him to blink a lot and wear an eyepatch. The trio of detectives initially suspected that he may have something to do with the murder of Sazz.
In episode 3, Charles and Eugene discovered that he wasn’t lying about the pink eye, but he did have a suspicious photograph in his room, which had a mysterious person’s face crossed out.
Richard Kind is best known for his sitcom roles, including Mad About You. He has also recently starred in the TV series The Watcher, and the films Bombshell and Beau Is Afraid.
Kumail Nanjiani as Rudy Thurber
Rudy is an eccentric Arconia’s West Wing resident who never takes down the Christmas decorations. He, too, was suspected by Mabel, Oliver and Charles of being involved in the murder of Sazz after they found what looked like tinsel in the sniper’s nest.
When Mabel and Eva confronted him, he revealed that he hates Christmas, and only keeps up this persona to boost his fitness YouTube channel. He also revealed that the object found at the crime scene was not tinsel, but something else. That said, he did have a suspicious hand radio.
Kumail Nanjiani is a stand-up comedian, actor, and screenwriter, nominated for an Oscar for his screenplay for Big Sick. He has appeared in the series Silicon Valley and Obi-Wan Kenobi and Welcome to Chippendales.
Daphne Rubin-Vega as Inez
Inez is a resident of the West Wing of Arconia and a fan of Charles. She doesn’t hide her feelings from her husband and daughter, and while cooking, she constantly tries to catch the attention of her idol living across the yard. She is also one of the suspects.
Daphne Rubin-Vega is a theatre and film actress who made her debut with the role of Mimi Marquez in the Broadway musical Rent. She has also appeared in the films Wild Things and Flawless.
Desmin Borges as Alfonso
Alfonso, Inez’s husband, tries not to show jealousy over her fascination with Charles. Like his wife, he is also on the list of suspects in the murder of Sazz.
Desmin Borges is a comedian best known for performing in the FX series You’re the Worst.
Lilian Rebelo as Ana
Ana is the teenage daughter of Inez and Alfonso, clearly tired of living with her parents.
Lilian Rebelo appeared in the theatrical hit Our Dear Dead Drug Lord.
Paul Rudd as Glen Stubbins
Paul Rudd is back on Only Murders, but not as Ben Glenroy. Instead, he’s the actor’s Irish stunt double, who is now out of work and looking for opportunities… when he’s not trying to hunt invisible rats in the bar.
Paul Rudd is best known for his role as Ant-Man in Marvel, Mike in Friends and Josh in Clueless.
Melissa McCarthy as Doreen
Doreen is Charles’ younger sister, who lives on Long Island and is a volcano of emotions. After her grown daughters move out, she dwells with her husband in a house filled with hordes of collectable dolls.
It comes out that the lonely Doreen has a crush on Oliver, who is trying to get over his supposed breakup with Loretta. When Loretta unexpectedly arrives on Long Island to sort things out with Oliver, a jealous Doreen gets into a fight with the actress.
Melissa McCarthy is mainly known for her comedy roles, but she has also appeared in such films as Ghostbusters and The Little Mermaid.
