Remember when Pixel phones were notably more affordable than the same generation of iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, and you didn’t have to wait for an A variant to get a good deal? I do. It was nice.
If you’re still a Pixel fan but you’re also a deal-hunter, maybe check out the new refurbished section of the official Google Store. It’s offering some big discounts on phones with full one-year warranties.
At the time of writing, the store is offering discounts on Pixel models in the US only (spotted by Android Central). Here’s a quick breakdown of the phones and prices:
- Pixel 6a — $249
- Pixel 6, 128GB — $339
- Pixel 6, 256GB — $389
- Pixel 6 Pro — $539
- Pixel 7, 128GB — $429
- Pixel 7, 256GB — $479
- Pixel 7 Pro, 128GB — $629
- Pixel 7 Pro, 256GB — $679
- Pixel 7 Pro, 512GB — $779
Note that the various capacities and colors will go in and out of stock as Google’s supply of returned and repaired phones fluctuates. Phones in the newer Pixel 8 and 9 series are notably absent but will probably show up at some point, especially as the company’s stock in the primary store gets low and it looks to clear out inventory.
You might notice that there’s a distinct lack of Pixel Watches on offer in this area of the Google Store. That’s because Pixel Watches are basically impossible to repair, so the only ones available for this program are open-box items. Google may or may not open up refurbished sales outside of the US… but if that does happen, I’m guessing it’ll take a while.
Getting full Google support is pretty good, but I should point out that you can often find better deals on these phones. For example, a quick Amazon search shows a brand-new Pixel 7 Pro 128GB for just $405. And if you’re okay with a “renewed” phone, you can get a Pixel 6a for just $184, albeit without a warranty. That extra peace of mind might be worth whatever extra you pay in the Google Store.
