If you’re shopping for a health and fitness smartwatch and you keep running into models with big price tags and relatively short battery life, you’re probably wondering exactly how are they supposed to get all of that amazing monitoring done when you keep having to put it back on its charger? Good question, but here’s a better answer: The Garmin vívoactive 5 health and fitness GPS smartwatch can go up to 11 days without needing to recharge, and it’s just $219 right now at Amazon thanks to a 27% off deal.

With this kind of battery life, the Garmin vívoactive 5 will grab all the data you need from all of your workouts and activity, and also the all-important sleep metrics that can cast a light on your overall health and energy levels. Where many health and fitness smartwatches lack the capacity to make it through a string of full days and nights without needing a recharge, the vívoactive 5 is up to the task, and for considerably less money than most of its competitors.

Every Sport and Then Some

The $219 price tag on the Garmin vívoactive 5 might have you thinking “base model,” but it’s anything but. It’s loaded with more than 30 sports-tracking apps for both indoor workouts and outdoor adventures that require the famous Garmin GPS to kick in. The vívoactive 5 even comes with a wheelchair mode that tracks pushes instead of steps, and includes wheelchair-specific workouts for strength, cardio, HIIT, Pilates, and yoga.

Garmin’s Body Battery energy monitoring feature is also present in the vívoactive 5, taking into account how well and how long you slept overnight, whether or not you napped, your stress levels, workouts, and more, and translating them into an overall score that helps inform whether you’re ready to work out again or if you should opt for a well-timed rest day to help your body recover.

All of those readouts will show up in the Garmin Connect app, which works equally well on Android or iOS smartphones, and if you want to check your running pace or heart rate while you’re working out, the vívoactive 5’s 1.2-inch OLED display is plenty big and bright so you’re not struggling to make out the numbers.

A Beauty for Sleep

We’re most impressed, though, by the vívoactive 5’s sleep tracking capabilities, which are made possible by the extreme endurance of the watch’s battery. With many other fitness and health smartwatches, a full day which includes a workout followed by a full night of sleep monitoring will drive the battery into the red, which means you have to decide whether to recharge during the day and miss tracking a workout, or recharge overnight and miss a sleep monitoring session.

With the Garmin vívoactive 5, you can track it all for days on end in smartwatch mode — GPS mode will drain the battery far more quickly — and get a full, comprehensive insight into your overall health and fitness level. And at just $219 during this 27% off deal at Amazon, you’ll be getting that complete picture at a far better price than much of the competition.
