‘Fallout’ Season 2 Is Opening Up the Vault a Little Early

Good news, vaulties: Fallout season two is almost here. Even better news: Amazon has decided to open up the doors a little earlier than anticipated.

Today Prime Video confirmed that Fallout‘s sophomore season will now hit a day earlier than anticipated, beginning streaming its first episode at 6 p.m. Pacific tomorrow, December 16. The streamer did a similar switcheroo for Fallout‘s debut season, which actually jumped up its release date multiple times.

Although the significant difference here (other than the unknown quality of the first drop; Fallout is now very known after it turned out to be a smash hit for Prime Video) is that, rather than dropping every episode at the same time, Fallout season 2 will release weekly. The new schedule update does not change the rollout plans for the eight-episode season, which will still drop episodes on Wednesdays and wrap up on February 4, 2026.

It’s a welcome bit of news for the show, after Amazon managed to land itself in an AI-driven embarrassment for the second time in as many weeks by releasing an AI-driven recap video of season one on Prime Video. Last week viewers spotted that, aside from an AI-voiced narrator, the recap had an AI-generated script littered with fundamental errors, like placing the show’s pre-apocalypse flashbacks in the 1950s, rather than the 2077-set retro future of the show and its video game source material. Amazon had to quickly and quietly pull the recap shortly after.

Fingers crossed the early release of Fallout season two goes a little more smoothly!
