He drinks, and he knows things. Hopefully, those things are about xenomorphs. That’s because none other than Peter Dinklage is joining the cast of Alien: Earth season two.
The casting is the first big news about the show’s second season, which will apparently be filmed at Pinewood Studios outside of London as opposed to Thailand, which is where season one was filmed. Pinewood is where Ridley Scott made the first Alien film, as well as Prometheus. Deadline broke the news.
Unfortunately, there’s no news on who specifically the Game of Thrones star is playing. He could be the creepy eyeball creature for all we know. But what we do know is that you don’t cast him for an insignificant role, so it’s going to be something important. Also, this certainly throws Dinklage’s attachment to a future season of Rian Johnson’s Poker Face into a bit of uncertainty.
Alien: Earth is set in the years before the events of the first Alien film, when a ship including multiple lethal aliens crash-lands on Earth. Among them is the famous star of the franchise, the xenomorph, which forms a strong bond with a young hybrid woman named Wendy, who ends up being able to communicate and control the creature. Season one ended with the xenomorph, Wendy, and her fellow hybrids taking over the lab where they were created, seemingly flipping power on human existence itself.
Maybe Dinklage is the leader of another one of the major corporations that run society in this time. Maybe he’s a new hybrid being. Or maybe he’s a new synthetic, since Timothy Olyphant’s character got pretty messed up by the end of last season. We don’t know.
Whatever the case, we are very excited not only that Dinklage is joining Alien: Earth, but that Alien: Earth is finally getting ready for season two.
