The last few years have seen anime movies and premiere episodes take to the big screen and make a ton of money, so Crunchyroll is getting on that with its new Anime Nights program.

During San Diego Comic-Con, the streamer/distributor revealed its plan to put an anime on the silver screen for the third Monday of every month to “honor the past, elevate the present, and celebrate the future of anime.” The titles will range from fan favorites and anniversaries to “curated” TV episodes, and even previews of upcoming hot series Crunchyroll really wants to promote. Select theaters for participating US chains like AMC, Regal, and Alamo Drafthouse will be part of the program.

“[This] is a shared experience that honors the art form, invites fans into the world of creators, and brings anime to life in a theatrical setting,” said Crunchyroll’s EVP of Commerce, Mitchel Berger. “We’re committed to the theatrical experience, and there’s something powerful about watching beloved anime surrounded by friends and fellow fans in a theater. It’s a unique opportunity to connect to the anime community every month to honor stories they love.”

First up is Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved on October 20, followed by the first seven episodes of Overlord on November 17 in celebration of the anime’s 10-year anniversary. Then, on December 15, Crunchyroll will provide an exclusive first look at some upcoming anime, which it’s currently not saying anything more about.

Tickets for these releases aren’t available yet, but expect them to go on sale closer to release, if they’re playing in your area.
