After three seasons on TV, everyone’s favorite murder doll Chucky is coming back.
Franchise creator Don Mancini revealed this over the weekend at Steel City Con. He’s currently writing the next installment of the Child’s Play franchise, which will reportedly have a “loose connection” to the USA show. Said show, in case you forgot or didn’t know, ended with Chucky and Tiffany—him back in his doll body, her in a prototype Belle doll—leaving with Caroline while the main kids had their souls put into marionette dolls.
Not counting the 2019 remake, Child’s Play has kept its continuity for decades, and this next movie will function as a reset similar to 2013’s Curse of Chucky. According to BloodyDisgusting, Mancini’s aim is to make it in a tone similar to Curse and the first two Child’s Play movies. And most importantly, this next film will be in theaters: Curse played theatrically in a few countries, but it’s otherwise a direct-to-DVD movie, as was the follow up Cult of Chucky. In fact, the last movie in the original continuity to hit the silver screen properly was Seed of Chucky all the way back in 2004.
We’ll have more on Child’s Play 8 as news emerges.
