The latest Marvel film had big shoes to fill. On the one hand, Captain America: Brave New World is the first MCU entry since the smash hit, Deadpool and Wolverine. On the other, it’s the first standalone movie for Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), who became the new Captain America.
As you may remember, Avengers: Endgame concluded Phase Four of the MCU. In the end (spoilers!), Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, decided to end his superhero career. Convinced that the world needed such a figure, he handed his shield and alias to Sam Wilson, previously known as Falcon.
In Brave New World, Sam tries to live up to expectations as the new Cap – as he doesn’t have Steve Rogers’ superpowers, he has to rely on his wit, vibranium wingsuit and shield. After the US presidential election, a terrorist attack occurs in the USA. The newly elected president, Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), chooses Sam to investigate the case.
Sadly, the reviews don’t favour the film, suggesting that Brave New World feels closer to the weakest instalments of the Marvel universe rather than the smash hit, Deadpool and Wolverine. Of course, it’s best to find out for yourself and watch Cap’s new adventures in the cinema. When will Captain America: Brave New World be released on VOD?
In the US, Captain America: Brave New World will be available for rental or purchase on Tuesday, 15 April 2025. The new Cap movie opened in theatres on 14 February 2025 and will appear on VOD 60 days after the cinematic debut.
For now, it’s unknown when the Brave New World will premiere on digital in the UK.
When will Captain America: Brave New World be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Physical copies of Captain America: Brave New World will hit American stores on Tuesday, 13 May 2025.
The premiere date for the UK is yet to be announced.

When will Captain America: Brave New World be released on streaming services?
As this is a Marvel film, it will debut on Disney+ exclusively rather than rivals such as Netflix.
Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hit Disney+ just a day after physical copies arrived in the stores. Deadpool and Wolverine, as well as The Marvels, became available for streaming three weeks after the DVD and Blu-ray release.
Therefore, Captain America: Brave New World may drop on Disney+ between 14 May 2025 and 3 June 2025.
