Hope you weren’t sick of Nine Inch Nails’ music for Tron: Ares, because the band’s gone and surprise dropped a new album for it.

Subtitled “Divergence,” the 20-song collection features remixed takes on the film’s original score from electronic artists Boys Noize (“Ghost in the Machine,” “What Have You Done?”), Mark Pritchard (“I Know You Can Feel It”), and Arca (“As Alive as You Need Me to Be”), among others. And if that weren’t enough, there’s also several previously unreleased songs from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ scoring sessions. If you’ve been hoping to hear Boys Noize’s remix of “Alive” during NIN’s Peel It Back tour, that’s not in the album. The remixes may not be to everyone’s tastes, but the new tracks are good (and lean further into video game territory, which might explain why they weren’t in the initial release), and if you liked the original Ares score (bundled in as a second “disc”), this should make for a solid companion piece and good listen in its own right.

Tron: Ares was Ross and Reznor’s first film score where they were credited under their band name, and singled out as a key (or really, only) reason to see the film it was attached to. “Alive,” its key single, took home Best Rock Song at the 2026 Grammys and nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media. Back when it released, it was the band’s first album to hit Top 10 in Billboard’s Top 200 in over a decade.

For the physical fans, Nine Inch Nails will release the CD and 2XLP versions of Tron Ares: Divergence on June 5.
