The eccentric Agatha first appeared in the MCU in the WandaVision series as a nosy neighbour named Agnes. The seemingly harmless woman turned out to be a ruthless witch looking to take on Wanda Maximoff’s unique powers. However, viewers came to love the quick-witter sorcerer, and Marvel decided to give her a standalone series.
Agatha All Along comprised part of Phase Five of the MCU and became a hit among viewers and critics alike. The question is, will the series return for a magical second season?
Here’s all we know about it.

Will there be an Agatha All Along season 2?
Spoilers for Agatha All Along below
Disney hasn’t yet commented on the fate of Agatha All Along. However, one of the stars has claimed that the series won’t return for a second round.
Patti LuPone, who played Lilia Calderu, revealed that the showrunner told her that Agatha All Along is a one-and-done show.

Speaking on the Andy Cohen live podcast, she said the following (paraphrased by The Wrap):
“Jac Schaeffer, the creator, came into my trailer and she said, ‘Patti, I’m just here to tell you that Lilia’s going to die,’ and I went, ‘But I wanted a second season.’ … “[Schaffer] said, ‘I don’t do second seasons. They wanted me to do a second season of Wanda Vision and I didn’t.’ She said, ‘There’s too much to write,’ so she does one-offs and I’m really hoping and praying that someday I get to work with her again because she’s magic.”
Disney hasn’t yet commented on this news, but it is unsurprising. Agatha All Along was described as a miniseries, meaning the story would conclude with only one season.
However, there was speculation that Disney would make a U-turn on this, as the show was submitted to the Emmys as a Comedy, not a Limited Series. That was the case with Shogun, which unexpectedly got a second instalment, despite being initially considered as a miniseries.
But that doesn’t mean Agatha Harkness is finished in the MCU. Disney has announced the premiere of Vision Quest in 2026, the next spin-off series of WandaVision. If Disney doesn’t create Agatha All Along season 2 by then, we’ll probably get to know what happens to the witch and Billy next in this new production.
If Disney makes any further comments, we’ll update this article.

What happened in Agatha All Along?
In WandaVision we saw a much grimmer version of Agatha. Rather than Wanda’s mentor, she was her enemy and power-seeking sinister witch – though she was still funny and charismatic. At the end of the series, she is trapped by Wanda in the persona of Agnes and condemned to live in an ordinary world.
In Agatha All Along, she found a way to break Maximoff’s hex with the help of Rio Vidal and Billy. However, she realised she was powerless. To reclaim her abilities, she gathered a coven of witches and set on a path – the witches’ road – filled with dark magic, dangerous creatures and enemies.
The road wiped out most of the coven, including Agatha herself. While we thought that this was the end of her story, Agatha appeared as a ghost to Billy. She revealed that the road was a complete scam, made up a long time ago to allow her to drain other witches of their power.
However, the story of the road was so legendary that Billy, unknowingly, created it himself under life-threatening circumstances – taking on his mother’s powerful illusion skills.
Agatha also showed that she’d grown fond of Billy over time, perhaps as a son-figure in place for Nicholas, the boy she lost.

The show concluded with Agatha and Billy setting out to find Tommy, the lost Maximoff twin who also inhabited another vessel. But how might this story continue if there’s no Agatha All Along season 2?
The MCU has many shows and films, and there have been rumours for a long time that a Young Avengers project is in the works, and the twins would be perfect additions to the group. There are also two Avengers films planned, which is always a great excuse to bring in various faces from across the MCU.
The other character likely to return in some capacity is Rio Vidal, AKA Lady Death. She and Agatha shared a complex relationship, with the pair being ex-lovers. Agatha seemingly never forgave Rio for taking her son beyond the veil, but she seemed to make peace with her fate by sharing a kiss with Rio – a pivotal moment for the MCU.
As an entity, Rio could easily appear in another film or series – especially if a character’s life is on the line.

Which cast members from Agatha All Along could return?
While the future of Agatha All Along isn’t looking promising, there is a chance that we could see some of these characters return in another project:
- Kathryn Hahn – Agatha Harkness
- Aubrey Plaza – Rio Vidal/Lady Death
- Sasheer Zamata – Jennifer Kale
- Joe Locke – Billy Maximoff
We are unlikely to see Debra Jo Rupp again as Sharon Davis, Ali Ahn as Alice or Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu – the characters met a grim end in the first season.
