A Quiet Place is moving forward again, in more ways than one. John Krasinski just announced that he’s returning to helm A Quiet Place Part III, aimed for release on July 9, 2027. The film follows the 2024 hit A Quiet Place: Day One, which showed an earlier story in this universe. Part III, presumably, will continue the story that began with the first two films, both of which were helmed by Krasinski and starred Emily Blunt.

Krasinski will write, direct, and produce the sequel, and though the cast and story are being kept under wraps, it’s pretty obvious that’s where things are going. After all, 2021’s A Quiet Place Part II ended with the characters finally finding a way to combat the large-eared monsters, so you have to imagine the story will continue along that path. Maybe it’ll lead to some kind of final confrontation?

A Quiet Place seemingly came out of nowhere in 2018. Directed by and starring Krasinski, along with Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds, it told the story of a family struggling to survive in a world where killer aliens with super-sensitive hearing have taken over. The first film ended with Krasinski’s character dying, but he returned in 2021’s Part II via flashback. That film saw Blunt’s character and their children leave the house to find more people, which led them to meet a character played by Cillian Murphy. By the end, many had died, but the characters had figured out a way to combat the creatures and blasted that information out to the world.

As far back as the Quiet Place Part II press, Krasinski had been teasing that he had ideas for the next film in the series. Of course, the Joseph Quinn/Lupita Nyong’o prequel came first. But, now, he’s coming back to finish the trilogy he started. And we hope it lives up to those first two films.

Krasinski also confirmed the news on social media.
